The Knights Of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Our Council

Germantown Council 7449 was chartered in 1979 and presently consists of over 260 members. Of those members, 12 are Honorary Life Members and one is an Honorary Member. 63 are Insurance Members. The large majority of our membership are active participants in our many programs including the Germantown Festival (fund-raising), the M. R. Drive and many other projects.

Membership Benefits

As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.

As a member of Knights of Columbus Council 7449 you will have opportunities to support our Germantown community and our local Churches. You will also have the opportunity to socialize with a group of fine catholic gentlemen and their families. Our members are very proud of the events and activities undertaken by our council to support our Church, community, and members. A partial list of these events and activities include:

  • Monthly socials and dinners
  • The M.R. Foundation of Tennessee annual fundraising drive to benefit the mentally and physically handicapped
  • Supporting Birthright of Memphis by hosting the annual Birthright Ball and Silence Auction
  • Staffing the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen on the first Saturday of each month
  • Support of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help, & St. Brigid Catholic Church's
  • Support of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School
  • Support of Martha's Manor day program for young women with disabilities
  • Sponsorship of many youth activities

How To Join

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.
